The ironing board is surprisingly sturdy. I was able to place all my living room books on it plus a few plants. Which is great because this doesn’t give me much surface space like an actual bookshelf would… but it’s so unique! It’s a sacrifice I was willing to make.
Here’s what it looked like “before,” at the consignment store:
I love the lines created from its legs. Their angular aesthetic balance the shabby-chicness of the board. I live for a juxtaposed room.
The board is also perfect for my living room makeover because I’ve been adding more texture and rustic elements to this space. I painted it with white chalk paint and distressed it, because all white would have felt too stark.
To further decorate this area of the room, I hung some of my older artwork and some framed photos torn from magazines.
I adore the photo of the monkey, plus the colors match wonderfully.
It’s been great to share a portion of this living room makeover and there will be more to come soon. There are a few finishing touches and one big piece of art I’m working on… and then will come the reveal. Stay tuned!
